Focus : The first central control room
Climespace, an expert in the field of urban cooling networks has put in place in Paris, the first central control room which has been set up on its production site at the Halles. This control room puts the finishing touch to the centralised and automatic control management system used for its installations by guaranteeing permanent and remote control.
This tool is used to control seven iced water production units that feed the Paris cooling system. It also permanently monitors the management, control and safety of the iced water supply throughout the network. Finally, it supervises the delivery outlets in each building. Accordingly, Climespace is responsible for the remote control of the production and supply chain designed to meet its client’s needs.
Compared with individual building air-conditioning systems, and urban cooling system can reduce electricity consumption by approximately 30 % and limit its impact on climate heating (-30 % in CO2 equivalent tonnes). An urban cooling system also reduces the emission of coolant HFCs (-50 %) and water consumption by approximately 65 % for the Paris system. Additionally, the buildings connected to this system benefit from the absence of noise nuisance and of health risks associated with separate production facilities.
